FerroSorp SLH is a pelletized iron(III) oxide-hydroxide, FeO(OH), used for the desulfurization of gases and air. In a bed, the pellets react with the hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) in the gas passing through them and hold the sulfur. When a small amount of oxygen is present, the iron sulfide converts to elemental sulfur and reactive iron hydroxide is restored, so the bed keeps capturing sulfur through many cycles before it is spent. Special granulating and drying methods in its production give FerroSorp SLH high form stability, abrasion hardness, and reactivity. SLH is the low-humidity pellet grade in Interra Global's H₂S removal media line. TYPICAL APPLICATIONS FerroSorp SLH is typically used to desulfurize gas at low relative humidity:
SIZES AND PACKAGING
FerroSorp SLH ships in 2,000 lb super sacks. Other packaging is quoted on request. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is FerroSorp SLH? A pelletized iron hydroxide medium for removing hydrogen sulfide from gas at low relative humidity, supplied by Interra Global under product code FS24P-SLH. It is typically used for landfill gas and digester biogas. How does FerroSorp SLH remove hydrogen sulfide? Hydrogen sulfide reacts with the iron hydroxide to form iron sulfide. With a small amount of oxygen present, the iron sulfide converts to elemental sulfur and the iron hydroxide is restored, so the same iron captures sulfur many times over before the bed is spent. How is FerroSorp SLH different from FerroSorp SK? The two pellets share the same iron hydroxide chemistry, pellet size, and production methods. The difference is the gas they are made for: the product data sheets rate SLH for gas at lower relative humidity and SK for gas at higher relative humidity. Interra Global reviews a stream's conditions and recommends a grade when called on. What gas conditions does FerroSorp SLH need? The capture reaction needs some moisture in the gas, and the regeneration reaction needs a small amount of oxygen. Oxygen is commonly present in landfill gas and is dosed as a small air bleed in digester gas where it is not. How should FerroSorp SLH be stored? For storage longer than two months, super sacks are typically kept out of the sun, and the oldest material is used first. What happens when the bed is spent? Spent pellets carry the sulfur they captured as elemental sulfur. The bed is changed out following the manufacturer's procedure, because spent media exposed to air can continue to react and warm, and the spent material is handled according to its safety data sheet and local rules. |
