aSORB DCL is a promoted alumina chloride adsorbent for HCl removal from refinery feed and process streams, specified under names such as chloride scavenger or HCl scavenger. The bead is activated alumina carrying an alkali promoter that raises its capacity for hydrogen chloride and binds the chloride by chemical reaction, so it is not released downstream. It is typically installed as a chloride guard bed ahead of the equipment and catalysts that HCl would corrode or poison, in catalytic reforming units and propane dehydrogenation units, where chloride leaves the chlorided catalyst with the process stream. It serves liquid streams and gases from ambient temperature to 220°C (450°F). Within Interra Global's activated alumina family it is the chloride adsorbent, beside the aSORB Activated Alumina and BASF F200 desiccant grades. TYPICAL CHEMICAL COMPOSITION

SIZES AND PACKAGING
aSORB DCL ships in 330 lb (150 kg) drums. It is stored dry and resealed after opening, since the bead takes up water ahead of the process stream, and the oldest stock is used first. Interra Global supplies it by the drum and in container-load quantities and quotes other packaging on request. Interra Global's technical staff review the service conditions and can recommend a bead size when a chloride guard or chloride treater bed is being sized or replaced. |
