MethaneMaxx is a liquid digester additive: twelve trace elements (nickel, cobalt, selenium, molybdenum, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and boron) in chelated form, dosed into an operating anaerobic digester to bring its microbial population to full activity and raise plant stability. Chelation keeps the elements in solution and available to the microbes rather than precipitating out before they can be taken up. It is a dark red liquid supplied by Interra Global, whose technical staff size a dose for the digester in question. Trace Elements and Biogas Output The methanogens that produce biogas need trace metals, nickel, cobalt, and selenium among them, and most feedstocks typically carry less than the optimal supply. Running short, a digester can build up volatile fatty acids, run a high FOS/TAC ratio, and produce less methane than its loading allows. Dosing chelated trace elements, sometimes called biostimulation, brings the levels to optimal and supports the population at its most active, which plants measure as higher methane output, a steadier FOS/TAC, and room to raise feedstock loading. Results Plants Have Measured In the MethaneMaxx Case Study 2025, a 3,500 m³ complete mix digester on dairy manure and corn silage in Córdoba, Argentina, had run below expectation since start-up, with high volatile fatty acids and a FOS/TAC of 0.39. Dosed at 6 liters per day for the first 35 days and 3 liters per day after, it reached optimal nickel, cobalt, and selenium levels by day 33. Over the following months its average methane output rose 12 percent, from 5,742 to 6,344 cubic meters per day, its FOS/TAC improved from 0.39 to 0.27, and daily feedstock rose from 14.5 to 16.7 tons. Results elsewhere depend on the digester, the feedstock, and the starting trace element levels. Dosing MethaneMaxx MethaneMaxx is dosed into a digester in service, by hand or through an automatic dosing pump, with no shutdown and no change to the feed system. Results typically show in part within 15 days of the first dose and in full after about 30 days or one hydraulic retention time; an initial dose brings the levels up, and a lower maintenance dose holds them. The liquid keeps for two years; it is stored away from freezing and sheltered from extreme conditions. Plants that also control sulfur in the digester dose it alongside the iron hydroxide powders of the H2S removal media family. Typical Applications MethaneMaxx is typically used in:
