ADS™ Powder Dosing System

ADS™ Powder Dosing System

An automated powder dosing system for anaerobic digesters: the ADS takes hard-to-wet iron hydroxide powder from the super sack to slurry and doses it to the digester for hydrogen sulfide control, designed and built by Interra Global.

Product Description

Interra Global designs and builds the ADS, an automated powder dosing system for anaerobic digesters. It takes iron hydroxide powder from the super sack, wets it to slurry, and doses it into the digester continuously and without dust, so an operator can control hydrogen sulfide in the digester itself rather than only in the biogas after it leaves. The machine is a bulk powder dosing system built on a super sack unloader frame. A 2-ton motorized hoist and trolley lifts the super sack onto a vibrating hopper with a sealed dust seat; a bearing-free 4-inch incline auger meters the powder to a proprietary pump-driven mixer built for hard-to-wet iron powders, the powder-to-slurry stage, which discharges the slurry through a 2-inch stainless connection at the edge of the skid. Water comes from an onboard 100-gallon stainless tank with an inline serviceable filter. A prewired PLC control panel with an HMI and a colored warning stack light runs unloading and dosing, monitors water pressure and flow with a consumption totalizer, and can integrate with the site's own control system for remote monitoring. The frame is powder-coated carbon steel and every powder contact surface is stainless; the two-part frame ships and installs in sections. The data sheet and manual carry the machine's former name, Automated Powder-to-Slurry Dosing System.

Typical Applications

The ADS is typically used where a digester operator doses iron to bind sulfide in the digester and lower the hydrogen sulfide in the biogas, as an alternative or a complement to an H₂S scrubber on the gas line. It doses the two iron powders Interra Global supplies for digesters, FerroSorp® DGR and iSORB IronMaxx™, as an alternative to ferric chloride dosing, and it serves where a site specifies a dry chemical feed system with slurry make-down for the digester:

  • Iron powder dosing to anaerobic digesters for hydrogen sulfide control
  • Continuous dust-free super sack unloading of iron hydroxide powder into slurry
  • Digester health programs, with the optional trace elements metering package

  • Options: weatherization for outdoor installation; trace elements metering for digester health

The ADS is designed and built in the USA and configured to the site's bulk bags (super sacks) and unloading practice; the frame ships in two sections for installation. Interra Global quotes the powder dosing system on request, together with the iron hydroxide powder it doses and the company's digester additives, and answers questions on dosing equipment for digesters and on the H₂S removal media that treat the gas downstream.
